Data & analytics
Business intelligence and data analytics
The usual symptom is not missing data, it is two reports that disagree. Sales counts a deal when it is signed, finance counts it when it is invoiced, and the monthly meeting turns into an argument about arithmetic instead of the business. We settle the definitions first, model the data once, and build the reporting on top of a single agreed version of it.
One number, one definition, one place to look
Warehouse and modelling
Data pulled from accounting, operations, CRM and spreadsheets into a modelled warehouse, where each metric is calculated in one place instead of five slightly different ones.
Agreed metric definitions
What revenue means, when a job counts as complete, which date drives the month. Settled in writing with the people who argue about it, before a single chart gets built.
Dashboards for decisions
Every view answers a specific question that somebody acts on, rather than presenting a wall of charts that is opened once at launch and never again.
Scheduled and self-service reporting
Board and management packs that assemble themselves on a schedule, over a model structured so that the next new question does not require a developer to answer it.
You probably need this if…
- Two departments present different numbers for the same month
- The monthly pack takes three days of copying between spreadsheets
- Data is split across accounting, a CRM and files on a share drive
- Nobody can answer a new question without a developer writing a query
What you get
- Source system audit with data quality findings
- Modelled warehouse with documented metric definitions
- Dashboards built around named decisions and roles
- Scheduled report and management pack delivery
- Refresh monitoring with alerts when a load fails
Everything we produce is yours, including the discovery document - whether or not the build goes ahead.
Data & analytics: common questions
Do we actually need a data warehouse?
Often not. Below a certain size, well-built reporting views over your existing database answer the question at a fraction of the cost. We tell you which case you are in during the audit, and we have talked clients out of warehouses before.
Do you build on Power BI or something custom?
Either, and the tool is the last decision rather than the first. Power BI suits an organisation already paying for Microsoft licensing; a custom dashboard suits reporting that has to live inside an application your own customers log into.
Data and analytics: tell us what you need
Send a short description of the problem. You will get a straight answer on whether this is the right fit and what it would take.
A reply from a developer. Not a sales pipeline. The person who reads your message is the person who would do the work.
An honest answer on fit. If an off-the-shelf product solves your problem better than a custom build, we will tell you which one.
No obligation. A first conversation costs nothing and commits you to nothing. Discovery output is yours either way.
