Logistics & field operations
Software for logistics and field operations
Field operations fail at the edges: the handover from office to driver, and the handover from completed job to invoice. Both are usually done by a person retyping something. We build the dispatch and capture path so that a completed job is already an invoiceable record, captured once, by the person who did the work.
Where it usually breaks
Jobs are dispatched by phone, proof of delivery arrives as a photo in a chat, and the courier system does not talk to the invoicing system.
What we build instead
Dispatch and scheduling, mobile-first job capture, courier and tracking API integration, and automated billing off completed jobs.
- Dispatch and route scheduling
- Mobile job capture and proof of delivery
- Courier and tracking API integration
- Automated billing from completed jobs
From dispatch to invoice without a phone call in between
Getting there means handling what generic software skips. These are the four that cost the most in this sector.
Proof of delivery living in a chat group
A photograph in a message thread is not evidence you can attach to a disputed invoice six weeks later. Captured against the job, with time and location, it is.
Drivers working out of signal
Capture that requires connectivity fails exactly where the work happens. Offline-first capture that syncs when signal returns is the difference between adoption and a rejected app.
Billing that lags the work by weeks
When invoicing waits for paperwork to come back to the office, cash flow carries the delay. Jobs that complete into a billable state remove the lag entirely.
Courier systems that do not talk back
Tracking numbers copied between portals and spreadsheets is where shipments get lost administratively even when they arrive physically.
What you end up with
- Dispatch and schedule visible to the office in real time
- Job capture that works offline and syncs when signal returns
- Proof of delivery attached to the job, with time and location
- Courier and tracking integration instead of portal copying
- Invoices raised from completed jobs without re-entry
The disciplines this draws on
Logistics & field operations: common questions
Does this need a native mobile app?
Rarely. A well-built web application with offline capture covers most field workflows, installs without an app store, and updates everywhere at once. We recommend native only when the hardware genuinely requires it.
Can it integrate with the courier services we already use?
Where they publish an API, yes - tracking, waybill creation and status updates. Where they do not, scheduled file exchange is usually still possible. We confirm which applies per carrier before committing to it.
Tell us how your operation runs
Including the parts held together by a spreadsheet. You will get a straight answer on what is worth building and what is not.
A reply from a developer. Not a sales pipeline. The person who reads your message is the person who would do the work.
An honest answer on fit. If an off-the-shelf product solves your problem better than a custom build, we will tell you which one.
No obligation. A first conversation costs nothing and commits you to nothing. Discovery output is yours either way.
